Why Do I Think I Can Help You?
I spent decades working in corporate America, in a number of companies. Although I worked primarily in financial services, I have had experience in many industries over the years. I have always worked hard, studied hard and given 100% to everything I've done. I am now retired from corporate life, but I still feel a strong desire to be engaged with people in the business community! I admire the brave people who start their own businesses. I feel that my background, along with the flexibility in my schedule, makes me uniquely qualified to help you solve your accounting and bookkeeping challenges. Let me share a little about what I've done during my career, and why I think my experience can help you!
Work HistoryMy work experience has primarily been in the Accounting area. However, I have also managed various Operations areas, overseen system conversions and merger and acquisition projects. When I became the controller of a small bank, I performed all the accounting functions myself with no staff initially. I have been in charge of general accounting staff, fixed assets, accounts payable, accounts receivables, budgeting, financial analysis and system conversions. I enjoy all aspects of accounting and love to trouble-shoot problems. I promise that I will bring that attitude to working with you on your accounting needs.

Educational BackgroundI earned my BA degree, with a double major in accounting and business, while I worked full-time and raised my family. I don't necessarily recommend that approach, but it was interesting how concepts I learned in the classroom seemed to intersect with what I was learning on the job. After earning my BA, I went on to earn my MBA and a post-grad certification in Forensic Accounting. Recently, I have become certified in QuickBooks Online, Advanced Online, Enterprise and QuickBooks Desktop, and I am listed as a QuickBooks Pro Advisor on the QuickBooks "Find an Expert" directory. I love learning new things and consider myself a life-long student.

Teaching ExperienceIn addition to "on the job" teaching, I have taught a number of accounting classes as an adjunct professor, including Accounting I and II, Cost Accounting, Business Math, Money and Banking and other courses. I derive great satisfaction from watching someone suddenly understand what they thought was a difficult idea or task!
Wherever I've worked, it seems that I always become the "procedure writer". I firmly believe that one of my greatest strengths is my ability to explain concepts and procedures to new staff in an easy-to-understand manner. |
